Here’s a shot taken earlier today of Ryan Turner about to conduct Emmanuel Music in a run through of my Gaudete in Domino. These are amazing musicians, with amazing rehearsal skills – they picked up the piece with incredible speed. They were also very flexible when I made some last minute adjustments to rhythms and even text underlay. You can’t do something like that with every musician, even some good ones. But these folks have tremendous good will as well as tremendous musicianship. I am deeply grateful. WIll be back to let you know how it went at tomorrow’s service.
There is just something electrifying about working with really good musicians, isn’t there? Whenever I get the opportunity I remember why I chose this career path in the first place.
